Brings Experts Together in Lisbon to Discuss Addictive Behaviours

The Portuguese Association of Addiction Medicine (APMA) will hold the scientific event “Addictology 360º – APMA 2026” on May 8, 2026, at the São João de Deus Institute in Lisbon.

This national meeting is aimed at healthcare professionals with an interest in addictive behaviours, namely physicians from various specialties (General Practice/Family Medicine, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Public Health, Cardiology, among others), as well as psychologists and social workers.

With an innovative and multidisciplinary approach, the main objectives of the event are to update and share knowledge, enhance clinical skills, and promote critical discussion of emerging topics in addictology, covering both substance-related and behavioural addictions.
The scientific programme includes round tables and lectures dedicated to topics such as behavioural addictions, rational use of benzodiazepines, smoking cessation interventions, challenges in managing patients with addictive behaviours, and alcohol consumption and hepatitis.

The event will feature renowned experts in the field of addictology. According to the organisers, “this meeting aims to become a significant national milestone, promoting an integrated and up-to-date perspective on addictive behaviours, which are increasingly present in daily clinical practice.”
